Join us for our fall release party at the Iowa Arboretum, a 415-acre facility in Boone County's Des Moines River Valley that showcases hundreds of species of trees, shrubs and flowering plants. The event includes an opportunity to meet a few of SOAR's education ambassadors, talk with SOAR educators, and learn about current SOAR projects. Falconry is the art of hunting with a trained bird of prey. Falconry is known to have been practiced by humans for over 3000 years! Meet Kay Neumann, the Executive Director of SOAR - Saving Our Avian Resources who has been a falconer for over thirty years. She will share the history of falconry and then participants will join Kay and one of her falcons in the field for a demonstration of falconry techniques.

The bald eagle visits the Upper Mississippi River and National Wildlife & Fish Refuge each year from late fall through early spring. As many as 2,500 bald eagles winter along the Upper Mississippi River from St. Paul, MN to St. Louis, MO. This program is dedicated to the understanding, appreciation, and protection of our national symbol. SOAR will be part of the 34th Annual Bald Eagle Watch.
