SOAR's Facilities

A 60' x 100' building was donated to SOAR by the city of Manning, IA. The building was the old Veterinary Associated Building in Manning. JS Construction was hired by SOAR to tear down, move, and rebuild this structure.

Bird pen

This pen is 10 feet by 20 feet. Injured birds are placed in these pens until they have healed enough towork on their strength in the flight pen.

Flight penThe flight pen allows birds to practice hunting, and gain strength before being released.

The Intensive Care Unit has it's own space in the building. When a bird is first brought in, it is looked over and placed here if it needs intensive care.

The office space is heated through it's passive solar design, and in-floor heating. This room includes an observation window of the education Bald Eagles, and a bird viewing area through the large windows.

By recycling an old building, SOAR saved 25 tons of materials from going to the landfill. The recycled materials cost half of what a new building would. Passive solar design and an energy-efficient heating system keeps energy consumption and keep cost down.
