Decorah’s 3rd Hatchaversary
Oh my, how time does fly! Seems like we were all reflecting upon a new year to come and now the calendar says April.

Our current blood lead analyzer
Recall that one “little birdie” had a wish for peace on earth, good wi-fi for all, and something really cool for my hatchaversary! The “something really cool” would help all eagle admits to SOAR – a new blood lead analyzer! It is very important to SOAR and the care of these eagles to be able to test, in-house, the eagle’s blood lead level. Knowing if and how much lead is the eagle’s system helps determine a path for treatment.
Last September, the manufacturer of the current blood lead analyzer informed us that the machine is at the “end of product life” meaning that we need to replace that unit. Word of this need was noted in a January article in the Decorah Journal (1/12/17) and an anonymous donor has come forward with a challenge! This donor would like to see SOAR be able to purchase a new blood lead analyzer and associated test kit and have some funds left for other eagle care needs. Our donor (from Cresco, Iowa) will match funds raised for the new analyzer and eagle care, up to $2,000!
Wow… what a cool thing for this compassionate donor to offer!
What do you say? Can we raise $2,000 to meet our donor’s match? Would you like to help Decorah “buy” a much needed piece of diagnostic equipment AND help with ongoing eagle care costs?
