New resources
Many thanks to our colleagues with the Fish & Wildlife Service for producing this new handout! Please share with family and friends who hunt (and fish).
See A Review and Assessment of Spent Lead Ammunition and Its Exposure and Effects to Scavenging Birds in the United States. This review focuses specifically on scavenging avian species exposed to spent lead via foraging habits. (1,548 KB PDF) This research paper also comes via Fish & Wildlife Service. No it is not a short document, but wanted to share so you know that conservation partners are continuing efforts to educate others on this topic.
Also… a quick read about The Wildlife Society testing out non-lead ammunition for mammal hunting! Read about their results in this excerpt from the Wildlife Society Bulletin available to all: Seeking bullets lethal to small mammals, not scavengers.
