14 Pounds
This adult female bald eagle is a confirmed “hit by car” as the person who hit the eagle on 2 March also called and rescue and transport was arranged to a SOAR volunteer.
When this eagle was transferred to SOAR and given an initial exam – she has a scuffed cornea and a left wing that is VERY swollen. Then, she tipped the scale at 14 pounds!
She was likely on her way “home” to far northern Minnesota or even Canada! Northern birds weigh more than our Iowa bald eagles.
Best thing… she’s eating on her own!
