De Soto Bald Eagle

30 January 2026

A wildlife photographer spotted this Bald Eagle near De Soto, Iowa, contacted SOAR, rescued, and got this eagle to someone heading to SOAR. This picture of the Bald Eagle was taken on 30 January. The eagle looked so much better than when admitted on the 29th!

This male eagle is lead poisoned – the blood lead level reading came back as HI. A reading we never like to see.

This is the sixth Bald Eagle admitted in 2026. Four of the eagles are lead poisoned.
