Decorah

Bald Eagle
Decorah is a hatch-year 2014 bald eagle from the nest near the Decorah Fish Hatchery. This nest was made famous by a massive following of live streaming video of nest activities on Ustream. For reasons we can only speculate, this eaglet left the nest too soon and was found unable to fly, sitting in the trout stream below the natal nest. This eagle suffered a fractured right humerus very near the shoulder joint and was missing several tail feathers. Despite pinning the broken bone to encourage healing, Decorah has limited movement in his shoulder joint because of a calcified lump from the bone healing, and cannot fly.
