Thanks to Des Moines Animal Control for rescuing and delivering this barred owl to Jenni with Iowa Bird Rehabilitation. SOAR volunteer Cassie picked up the owl from Jenni.
This owl has injuries consistent with a vehicle collision – a fractured left wing, an abrasion above the cere (the fleshy part where the nostrils are), and a scratch on the left eye.
The owl was not terribly thin at admit, but wasn’t interested in eating on own, so was hand-fed.
