Hatchling red-tail

Outcome: Released 21 June 2017 near the Meskwaki Tribal Center
Location of Rescue: Buchanan County
Cause of Admission / Condition: Hatchling on the ground, no nest located
Patient Status: Patient Archive, Success Stories
Thanks to Tracy at Wildthunder Wildlife and Animal Rehabilitation and Sanctuary for rescuing this hatchling red-tailed hawk. This hawk is too young to be out the nest and cared for by adults. Tracy had to make the tough decision to rescue when she couldn’t locate nest or see adults and wet weather was forecast in the area. It’s always best if the babies are raised by their adults, but that is not always possible.
We transferred this youngster to SOAR so he would have other red-tails to be with soon!
