A motorist saw a juvenile bald eagle get hit by a semi while eagle was checking out roadkill on IA-92 near the town of Patterson. The motorist had called SOAR before with an injured eagle… so they knew just what to do. SOAR volunteer Deb rescued this young male and Cassie transported back to SOAR.

This juvenile is in pretty bad shape with two fractured humerus bones, yes both upper wing bones are fractured. Pretty sure he hurts, too.

Updates:

The Patterson eagle went to the veterinarian on 2 March 2018 for an x-ray to determine how badly his wings were broken. Both elbow joints were destroyed and this eagle would never fly again.
