Alex with Sioux County Conservation rescued a juvenile (HY14) Swainson’s hawk. This hawk has an old injury to the radius, but the bigger issues included the slimy gook covering the feathers and really HUGE feather lice. A “Dawn bath” took care of the slime.

Tail feathers are growing in nicely

The lice seem to like this hawk... the hawk has had one round of droncit and two rounds of ivomec and there are still lice (usually these two wormer medications will get rid of all internal and external parasites). The hawk cannot leave the ICU crate until the lice are gone.
