Des Moines Animal Control rescued a grounded fledgling Cooper’s hawk and transported to rehabber Jenni in Des Moines. Terrie transported to SOAR on the 7th.

If you’ve followed SOAR raptor patients, you may recall reading that Accipiters (in our area Cooper’s and sharp-shinned hawks) are not the easiest patients. This hawks tend to be quite high strung and do not often tolerate R&R in a crate. So, with feeling no fractures or reason to keep in ICU, this hawk was going to a flight pen for a better chance to keep feathers intact! Initial flight attempts were weak.
