Tyler admitted from the Sioux City area a hatch-year, likely brancher, broad winged hawk with a “poke in the eye” and was hungry. Wants to keep the eye closed. We’re hoping antibiotic drops work soon as broad wings are not good ICU patients – very high strung and bouncing off the crate walls already.

Updates:

While the eye issue has resolved and the hawk is in a flight pen... the broad-winged hawk needs new tail feathers. Since broad-winged hawks winter south of Iowa, this one will be spending the winter with us.
